BEDD Puts a Smile on Disabled People11.10.2013
Using every means available in line with the motto "love doubles when shared and that is how barriers diminish", and aspiring to integrated disabled people into the society by improving their quality of life over the past 20 years, the Solidarity Association for the Physically Disabled (BEDD) delivered battery-powered and manual wheelchairs as a part of a ceremony to the disabled people residing in Kocaeli Nursing, Rehabilitation & Family Counseling Center.
As a total of 33 wheelchairs including 5 battery-powered ones and those with a variety of features were delivered to those in need as a part of the ceremony, there were blissful moments as some clothes granted by a prominent store were distributed through BEDD. Putting his soul into social responsibility projects, the founder and head of BEDD Mr. Kemal Demirel said at the ceremony: "We have been relentlessly working hard to make a difference in the lives of disabled people. Making life easier for disabled people has been our mission of priority thanks to the donations made by people with a heart of gold. We exert efforts through a variety of events to make sure that disable people adapt to social life. As this is the time when we engulf in spiritual sentiments of the Eid Al-Adha, I would like to extend my thanks to distinguished benefactors who have stood by our side since day one."
He also pointed out that the Association is willing to be in touch with anyone wishing to support the cause and share their suggestions and projects. Special birthday celebrations for those residing in the rehab center and those born this month led to some emotionally-charged moments. After cutting the birthday cake, the ceremony culminated in a photoshoot.
